We have implemented a comprehensive revision of the edit form for group sessions, aiming to enhance its functionality and user experience. The previous form allowed simultaneous updates of multiple fields, whereas we have transitioned to a new model where each field can be updated individually. This approach grants users greater control over the changes they make, particularly when dealing with sessions belonging to recurring series.
Previously, we employed a system to track whether a session had been previously modified, offering users the option of a "gentle" update, which only affected sessions that had not been altered before, or a "hard" update, which applied changes to all sessions within the recurring series. However, we encountered a challenge when it came to clients. For instance, if a client was removed or canceled from a session, a subsequent update to another session could inadvertently reintroduce that client into the recurring series, including sessions from which they had previously canceled. Clearly, this outcome was not desirable.
To address this issue, we have introduced a recent update that significantly reduces such occurrences. Users are now able to update specific fields without disrupting the participants, mitigating the risk of unintended client additions. Consequently, utilizing group sessions—be it open sessions, group sessions, or courses/classes—will become more user-friendly. Administrators, staff, and practitioners/tutors will observe the presence of the new form field when attempting to edit a group session.
These improvements aim to streamline the editing process, enhance user control, and ultimately provide a more efficient and reliable experience for all users involved.
